When we last brought you South African artist Jonti, he was teaming up with Hodgy Beats on the awesome “Nagoya.” Well he’s back with California rapper Jonwayne, and they’ve released the weird but dope “Uh Oh.” Frankly, this sounds like it belongs on MF Doom and Dangermouse’s Adult Swim adventure The Mouse And The Mask, but I’m totally cool with getting it now. This is the type of collaboration that I go nuts for. Odd Future’s prolific Hodgy Beats joins up with Jonti from Stones Throw Records on this track that sounds nothing like anything OF has ever put out. Stones Throw is one of my favorite labels and is home to some of the best and most unique artists – Madlib, MF Doom, and Aloe Blacc to name a few. I haven’t heard Jonti before this, but he brings a really James Blake/Washed Out shoegaze sound to this, and Hodgy adapts to it perfectly. Hear something different below.
