Dada Life: June Mix & EDC Live Set

Today I have two HUGE sets from Dada Life. The first is their June 2012 Mix, like the rest of their monthly mixes this one is filled with energy and massive beats. I will say that this has to be my favorite month mix to date by the duo, it catches your attention right from the beginning with their own remix of Justin Bieber’s Boyfriend then it slams into the heavy heavy and goes bananas, perfect for your summer pool party. Hodgy Beats – “BKLYN” & “Lift”

Hodgy Beats of OddFuture has recently released a few tracks and I threw them into a post for all of you. He is also working together with Left Brain of OddFuture and combined their collaborations is entitled MellowHype. That basically describes all of their work, super mellow tracks with a tad pinch of hype. Hodgy has a nasty flow so be on the lookout for his upcoming mixtape.

Rick Ross – Rich Forever (Mixtape)

The best grunter in the hip hop game aka MMG boss Rick Ross has come out with a new mixtape, titled Rich Forever. While I have not heard much hype about it, it is nevertheless post-worthy. Apparently this is a tape made in preparation of ROzay’s next album God Forgives, I Don’t. With features from MMG partners Meek Mill, Pill, and Wale as well as other such as John Legend and Nas, this mixtape has some promise to it. Hopefully. Check it below. Happy Friday!

Gabriel Stark – “Rolling Through Dallas”

“Rolling Through Dallas” was released today off of Gabriel Stark‘s upcoming mixtape Starky F. Kennedy which is scheduled to drop on January 7th. By the sounds of this lyrically-golden track as well as “Jackie Onassis,” this mixtape is going to set the bar high for the rest of the hip hop world for the rest of the new year. Take a listen to this track, paying close attention to the lyrics. They’re heavy, they’re reflective, and they’re thought-provoking. Just what pretty much anybody, especially us American youth, could use.

Listen Up – The White Rhino

Thanks to Adam shooting us an e-mail about The White Rhino we can introduce you all to this new artist out of Brooklyn, NY. Below is his six track EP titled The Knitting Factory Album Release Preview. This EP is a preview for his album, The Journey of Julian Rhine, which is set to release January 13th. That night White Rhino will be having a release party at the Knitting Factory in NYC. If your in town hit it up!! Make sure to check out the songs “Phase It Out” & “Conquest” below, those are my two favorites right now.

The entire album was produced with Jonathonn Rice in Nashville, TN, and the two holled up there for weeks building the organic yet futuristic sound you hear throughout the album. The songwriting is strong, the flow is intricate and complex, and the production is amazing. Simply put, there is no one out there making music anywhere near this. -Adam Freedman

Gravy and the Biscuits – “Sauced” (mp3 + Video)

Even though I’ve gotten hip to Gravy and the Biscuits only recently, I listen to their music as if I’ve been a die-hard fan from their very beginning. The Nashville-based group’s sound is inexplicable. They blend hip hop, soul, and funk through their jazzy horns, dope rhymes, and funky melody. That attempt at a description doesn’t even come close to doing the group’s sound justice. You’ll have to listen to understand. Check out their tune “Sauced” below, as well as its accompanying must-watch music video which was released yesterday. It’s silly.

PS. Grab Gravy and the Biscuits’ first EP, Soul Food, here. You won’t regret it. It’s a masterpiece of feel-good-ness that will have you falling in love with their sound over and over again. Every track is a gem.
